5 Makeup Essentials Every Busy Women Should Have

If you’ve hit the point where you would consider trading one of your toes in exchange for more hours in the day, you’re not alone.

Sometimes we busy women need to look great with as little effort as possible.

After all, we don’t always have the luxury to spend hours on our makeup every time when we have places to go and people to see.
Most days we throw some products in our handbag as we rush out the door and hope for the best as we apply them on the go – on the train, at a red light, or in whatever bathroom we find ourselves in.

However, the key to always looking flawless with as little effort, stress, and products possible is to have a well prepared makeup bag of multitasking items.

The following items are all travel friendly, can replace several other products, and do not require a brush – just swipe and go.

The Essential List:

Tinted Moisturizer/BB Cream: The fastest way to moisturize and even out skin tone is moisturizer infused with a hint of color.

If you want to take it one step further, try using a Beauty Balm (aka BB cream) which can contain antioxidants, makeup primer, or sun protection depending on which formula you get. Not only do you get to streamline your makeup bag by replacing moisturizer, primer, foundation, and sunscreen with one product, you also save time since you do not have to wait for each individual layer to absorb into skin before adding the next one.

Concealer: If ever there was a magical potion to fix any problem your face might be facing, it would definitely be concealer.

Late nights, surprise pimples, and unwanted discoloration don’t stand a chance against concealer.

What most people don’t know is that its usefulness doesn’t stop there. Use it as a primer on eyelids and lips to create a perfect base which helps makeup last longer and look more vibrant. It can also replace lip liner if you apply around the outside of the mouth to keep lipstick or gloss from feathering.

Contour Stick: We finally live in an age where a perfectly sculpted face is no longer exclusive to those born with perfect features or who have a plastic surgeon on speed dial.

The recent crop of double sided contour sticks make it extremely easy to create high cheekbones, a slim nose, or a more defined jaw line in less than a minute. For even more glow, you can use the highlighting side to light up your face by dabbing it on your brow bone to lift the eyes or on your cupid’s bow for fuller looking lips.

Mascara: Considered by most women to be their beauty bff, the right formula and application will make you look awake and ready to take on the world no matter how far you feel from those things.

To have people asking if you’re wearing falsies: apply mascara in a zig-zag motion from the base of your lashes to the tips on the top and the bottom lashes. As a bonus, you can also run a clean eyeliner brush along the wand to pick up pigment and apply as liquid eyeliner.

Tinted Lip Balm: Significantly easier to apply than lipstick and way less issues to deal with than lipgloss (specifically the horror of having your hair become one with your lipgloss on a windy day), tinted lip balm is the perfect finishing touch for any look.

Not only does it give your lips moisture and a light wash of color but if you’re applying it on the go, you don’t need a mirror, a brush, or lipliner. To really perk up your complexion, you can also rub some on your cheeks as a sheer blush or even use a small dab on eyebrows to make them less unruly and more glossy.
